Residents committed to having their ideas and opinions heard are invited to attend a charrette – a three-day period of intense design activity intended to produce consensus – for the Jacksonville Transportation Authority’s Normandy, Cassat and Lenox mobility corridors.
The JTA is reviewing transit, pedestrian and bicycle movements within each mobility corridor. Projects may include items such as sidewalks, bike paths, transit accessibility improvements, lighting, bus shelters, landscaping and more.
Residents’ ideas, input and feedback will ensure that the vision reflects community values and aspirations. Community involvement and feedback will help determine what projects will be most beneficial to the neighborhoods now and in the future.
The venue will be in the chapel of The Potter’s House International Ministries at 5119 Normandy Blvd. beginning Tuesday, Sept. 15, 4-8 p.m. with a kickoff presentation, open houses on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursday, Sept. 17, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., followed by a final presentation that same day, 4-7 p.m.

The Zone 4 Sheriff’s Advisory Committee (ShAdCo) will march from St. Paul’s Catholic Church to King Street, then down to College Street. Residents are welcome to march.
Annual 5K run to benefit Sanctuary on 8th Street, sponsored by the Shoppes of Avondale Merchants Association.
5th Annual Festival of Flight will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015, at the Riverside Arts Market (RAM).
The Festival of Flight is presented by Fidelity Information Services Global (FIS). The Festival will begin with a service of remembrance and will feature live music from Canary in the Coalmine, Jordyn Stoddard and Faze Wave throughout the day. There will be food, a Kid Zone, a Beer Garden, as well as crafts for children and their families, and all the other exciting things that RAM has to offer.
Tickets are $70 per person or $120 per couple. Price includes unlimited food, 2 drink tickets (to be used for liquor, beer, or wine), entertainment, and access to the swankiest Speakeasy party of the year! Purchase your ticket here.
