Omega Park is the host site for a six week baseball camp starting January 15. U.S. Baseball Academy site director Shannon Wofford will direct the program. Classes are available for players in grades 1-12 and are limited to seven players per coach. One-hour sessions are offered in advanced hitting, pitching, catching, fielding and baserunning. The Community Women’s Bible study, which has been going on for over 25 years at Ortega Presbyterian Church, will begin a new series on Tuesday, January 31, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the church library. This series is led by lifelong resident of the Avondale area, Audrey Ainsworth, and will utilize teaching by Dr. Sinclair Ferguson, which gives an overview of the Sermon on the Mount: How to Live a Kingdom Life in a Fallen World. Women are welcome to join the study. The church building is located in old Ortega, at 4406 Longfellow Street, near the intersection of Algonquin Avenue and Longfellow Street.

Friends of the Murray Hill Library Annual Meeting and Silent Auction will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Maple Street Biscuit Company, 1171 Edgewood Avenue S., in Murray Hill. Social hour and the Silent Auction will start at 6:00 P.M. with a large collection of educational “Great Courses” available for bidding. The Annual Meeting will begin at 7:00 P.M.
