Community Women’s Bible Study @ Ortega Presbyterian Church

The Community Women’s Bible study, which has been going on for over 25 years at Ortega Presbyterian Church, will begin a new series on Tuesday, January 31, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the church library.  This series is led by lifelong resident of the Avondale area, Audrey Ainsworth, and will utilize teaching by Dr. Sinclair Ferguson, which gives an overview of the Sermon on the Mount: How to Live a Kingdom Life in a Fallen World.  Women are welcome to join the study. The church building is located in old Ortega, at 4406 Longfellow Street, near the intersection of Algonquin Avenue and Longfellow Street.

Friends of Murray Hill Library Annual Meeting & Silent Auction @ Maple Street Biscuit

Friends of the Murray Hill Library Annual Meeting and Silent Auction will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Maple Street Biscuit Company, 1171 Edgewood Avenue S., in Murray Hill. Social hour and the Silent Auction will start at 6:00 P.M. with a large collection of educational “Great Courses” available for bidding. The Annual Meeting will begin at 7:00 P.M. Local architect Peyman AtaAbadi will be present to discuss beautification efforts at the library and on Edgewood Avenue. Refreshments provided. Basic Handbuilding (Clay) @ Murray Hill Art Center

Explore the aspects of creating with clay off the wheel. You’ll become very comfortable working with coils, pinch pots and slabs.  You will learn to use underglazes for decoration  Instructor provides guidance for all levels of experience with special attention to newcomers.  Experienced potters may pursue independent projects.

Please wear comfortable cotton clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.  You may want to bring an apron to wear and please leave your fine jewelry at home.
