Students from V’s Student Cosmetology Services at Virginia College in Jacksonville are finding ways to use their gifts and talents to make a difference in honor of those affected by cancer. As a part of national Cancer Survivor Beauty and Support Day™ (CSBSD™), the Cosmetology students at the campus will offer complimentary haircuts, styling, manicures, pedicures, eyebrow waxing and makeover services Tuesday, June 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the campus located at 5940 Beach Blvd., Suite C. Survivors interested in receiving the services are asked to call 904-520-7440 to make an appointment.

One-on-one help with e-books, email, the internet, online applications, and basic computer instruction. Join the Museum every Tuesday and Thursday for a guided tour of the historic Cummer Gardens, beginning in the Museum lobby.

The Summer Lunch Program provides free meals to children 18 years of age and younger.

Every Tuesday from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on the Cummer Café patio, take in the sunset while listening to local musicians with beer, wine, or artfully inspired tapas for sale at the Café. The event is free and open to the public, as the community is invited to experience a day in the life of a Virginia College student. The event will feature refreshments, campus tours, program demonstrations, admissions presentations and a meet-and-greet reception. Attendees will be entered to win prizes such as t-shirts and Amazon gift cards. Members of the community planning to attend must call 904-520-7400 to register with the campus prior to the event.

The event will also allow attendees to explore the programs offered through Virginia College, including: Business Administration, Business Office Specialist, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Medical Assistant, Medical Billing and Coding, Medical Office Management, Network Engineering, Network Technician, Pastry Arts, Pharmacy Technician and Sales Professional programs.
