Summer is a busy time at the Jacksonville Public Library with a Summer Learning Program and Reading Challenge to stave off the dreaded “summer slide,” a phenomena that kids experience when they don’t read or use critical thinking skills over summer break. Summer slide can put students at a disadvantage when school begins. The library’s Summer Learning is a lot of fun, but it really helps prepare students for the upcoming school year. You can find out more about Summer Learning, and how to track books online to earn cool badges and weekly prizes at the following website: http://www.jaxpubliclibrary.org/summer. You’ll receive a free coloring book just for signing up.
