Phoenix Arts District hosts a weekend of events to celebrate a homegrown showcase of the authentic voice of emerging and established artists from Northeast Florida and beyond! Come learn about plans for the future of this over 100,000 sq ft facility slated to house a community event space, cafe, restaurant, gallery, live/work artist studios, workshops, and classes for all ages in varying art forms.

JOIN US for an introduction to the district as you’ve never seen it before, an exceptionally progressive display of work from local fashion designer Bobby K, and of course a classic Phoenix dance party!

THE PARTY CONTINUES…with a family friendly block party hosting art and food vendors as well as live demos from local artists. Watch, learn and even participate in making your own art to take home!

You’re invited to take an experienced or beginner’s oil painting class taught by Susan Astleford, nationally recognized painter and Epping Forest resident. Susan’s has taught water-soluble oil classes to adults for eight years around the United States.

Susan is a member of the Palette and Chisel Academy, Oil Painters of America, Ohio Plein Air Society, American Artist Professional League, Allied Artist of America, American Impressionist Society, and Women Painters of the Southeast.
The Jacksonville Arboretum & Gardens (JAG) and First Coast Plein Air Painters hosts A Brush with Nature, a plein air painting event, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 24 and Sunday, March 25 at the arboretum, located at 1440 Millcoe Rd. Admission is free, with donations to the arboretum encouraged.
More than 40 artists will create, sell their work to support the nonprofit Jacksonville Arboretum & Gardens, local artists. All works of art created at the event are available for sale – with proceeds benefiting the Jacksonville Arboretum & Gardens and the artists.
Visitors can stroll along the trails to watch and interact with participating artists as they work.
Activities include:
• Artists’ demonstrations each day
• Art activities for children from noon to 3 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
• Entertainment by Old Dawgs New Trixx, Al Poindexter and Eric Wendorf (noon to 3:30 p.m. Saturday)
• Food trucks Hybiscus Hut and Frozen Sweets on site from 9 a.m. to close Saturday and Sunday
Everyone is welcome to attend the Community Bible Study Ortega/Jacksonville on Tuesday mornings from 9:30 – 11:30 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. This year’s 30 week study will be “From the Red Sea to the Jordan River” and will begin on September 5th. No matter what your age, denomination or Bible knowledge – we have a place for you. Men, women and children are encouraged to come. Our children’s program offers classes with trained loving teachers with age appropriate curriculum from nursery through high school.
