Artists Who Mentor: The Passing of Knowledge & Wisdom — Reception & Exhibit @ Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church
Jun 6 @ 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Beginning Wednesday, June 6, Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church will offer an art exhibit honoring the mentor/mentee relationship among artists. A reception will be held Tuesday, June 5, 6-7 p.m. in the gallery, 4001 Hendricks Avenue.

The show features the art of eight well-known Jacksonville artists, all of whom have contributed much to the growth of the art community. They have worked within a variety of media, and the exhibit will include painting, sculpture, collage, ceramics and glass.

The artists include Louise Freshman Brown, Jim Draper and Nofa Dixon from the University of North Florida; Paul Ladnier, retired from UNF; Brian Frus of Jacksonville University; Dustin Harewood of FSCJ, Kent Campus; Glendia Cooper, retired from the Duval County School System, and Jim Smith of The Bolles School.

In addition to producing their own creations, these talented artists have dedicated themselves, some for decades, to enhancing the development of emerging artists as well. A work of each will be paired with that of a mentee who they feel embodies the concept of absorbing the learning experiences and then synthesizing a new direction in their own art.

For more information, call (904) 396-7745.
