Duval County Food Summit, a public conversation exploring
Jacksonville’s food culture and its impact on access to safe and healthy
foods for all community members, will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30
p.m. on April 21 at the Schultz Center for Teaching & Leadership in
St. Nicholas. Hosted by Health Kids Healthy Jacksonville, the summit
costs $5 to attend. Registration begins at 8 a.m. at the center, located
a 4019 Boulevard Center Drive just off Beach Boulevard. For more

Funky & Friends Concert/Celebrity Golf Classic

– Jim and Tabitha Furyk are pleased to announce the second annual concert and
celebrity golf outing to be held Sunday, March 25 and Monday, March 26.
Headlining the concert is country sensation Rodney Atkins. Celebrity players in
the golf tournament include Jim Furyk, Stuart Cink, Lynn Swann, Jack Ingram and
more.

The Jim and
Tabitha Furyk Foundation was established in late 2010 in an effort to support
local children and families in need.
Last year, the inaugural concert and golf event raised over $250,000 for
northeast Florida charities. Some of the funds were used to feed an entire Jacksonville elementary school for the school year through Blessings in a
Backpack, provide care for 100 families in the Community PedsCare program and
fund a family suite in the new Oncology tower at Wolfson Children’s hospital.

Sunday, March 25
Rodney Atkins along with
special guests are going to rock Whisky River, owned by race-car sensation Dale
Earnhardt Jr. and located at the St. Johns Town Center. Premier packages include pre-concert
party with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and special celebrity guests. Both

Monday, March 26
The Celebrity Golf
Classic will take place at Sawgrass Country Club.  Sawgrass was home to The
Players Championship from 1977 through 1981. The 27 hole golf course was
designed by noted Arnold Palmer Course Design architect, Ed Seay. Sawgrass is
consistently recognized is one of the finest courses in the country and
continues to host top quality tournaments.

Proceeds from
this year’s concert and golf will benefit Blessings in a Backpack, Wolfson
Childrens’ Hospital and Community Pedscare.

Jacksonville Jazz Festival

The Jacksonville Jazz Festival will be held on Thursday, May 24 to Sunday, May 27.

“The Jacksonville Jazz Festival helps to promote a greater quality
of life by drawing thousands of people to our Downtown,” said Mayor
Brown. “This is the perfect opportunity for families and groups of
friends to gather, take in performances, enjoy a stroll along our
treasured St. Johns River and feel the heartbeat of our city’s urban
center.”

Some of this year’s confirmed performers include Sonny Rollins; Chick
Corea, Stanley Clarke and Lenny White Trio; Patti Austin with the
Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra; Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue;
Poncho Sanchez and his Latin Jazz Band featuring Terence Blanchard; and
Karrin Allyson.
