Florida Native Plant Society Meeting @ Regency Square Library

The Ixia Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society will hold its monthly General Meeting on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at the Regency Square Library. The meeting is open to the public and will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the presentation “Sierra Club Seven: crucial conservation concerns that affect us all.” The featured speaker is Jonathan Brainard, education chair, Suwanee-St. John’s Sierra Club. Mr. Brainard is a life-long Florida resident who retired from a career teaching exceptional education, science and gifted studies, to concentrate on helping to move Florida forward environmentally.

Party in the Park for Prevention @ Friendship Fountain Park

Join Family Support Services at Party in the Park for Prevention, a free, fun-filled family event where you’ll learn about child safety and safety-related programs available in our community. Enjoy free water taxi rides, snacks, information booths, children’s activities, clowns and giveaways. Complimentary sandwiches from Chartwells Dining Services for the first 300 attendees! Free children’s passes to MOSH for first 50 children attending. Free book about water safety for children, while supplies last. Free parking beneath Acosta Bridge, located west of River City Brewing Co. and public marina.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Help raise awareness and learn what you can do to protect children and prevent child abuse.
