San Marco Chamber Music Society: JDRF Benefit Concert @ St. Mark's Lutheran Church

Rehearsals are underway, the harpsichord has had its preliminary tuning, and the music is getting prepared for you to enjoy our annual concert benefiting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).   You will hear a variety of sounds in music of Telemann, Gershwin, Vaughan Williams, Schickele, and Jacob.  The concert is free, but please be generous in your donations to JDRF so we can make Diabetes type I, Diabetes type none.  Greet us afterwards for at a delicious reception!

Acrylic Painting Field Trip: Hens and Landscape @ Murray Hill Art Center
Sep 19 @ 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Instructor:  Pat Johnson

We will visit a Riverside backyard location to observe, work on thumb nail sketches, take photos. Field trip will be completed back at the Murray Hill Art Center where you will establish a beginning painting or drawing. Bring a bag lunch and drink.

Non-members welcome for Fee $10. Group will meet at Art Center.

Clay Hand Building Class @ Murray Hill Art Center

This is a 6 week class where we will explore the aspects of creating with clay off the wheel. You’ll become very comfortable working with coils, pinch pots and slabs.  You will learn to use underglazes to decorate your pieces.  Instructor provides guidance for all levels of experience with special attention to newcomers.  Experienced potters may pursue independent projects.

Please wear comfortable cotton clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.  You may want to bring an apron to wear and please leave your fine jewelry at home.

Jacksonville Ortega Community Bible Study @ St. Mark's Episcopal Church

Community Bible Study (CBS) is an interdenominational study open to all believers and seekers. Our mission is “to make disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ in our communities through caring, in-depth bible study, available to all.”

This year our 30-week study will be on Corinthians 1 and 2. We offer women’s, men’s, teen’s and children’s classes. Our children’s program is a structured bible study using age appropriate materials for each age. Newborns to teens are welcomed.

Registration fee is $35 for adults and $10 for each child. Fee includes all materials for class. Scholarships are available.

Stories for Young Children @ San Marco Library

This program is for children birth to 5 years with an adult caregiver. The program includes stories, books, finger plays, nursery rhymes, and songs that promote language development, vocabulary building and comprehension. Arts & Crafts or Open Play following program. Early literacy toys ranging from building blocks to dinosaurs will be made available. Caregivers must stay with children at all times.

Science Fair Help Workshop @ San Marco Library

For teens: With the County Science Fair coming soon some students might need a little extra help coming up with what they want to present or to improve what they’ve already got. The library staff will be there to help answer questions, supply students with a selection of Science Fair guide books, and help however we can to help make the Science Fair great.
