Jaxsons Night Market is a local, downtown market held every third Thursday of the month in Hemming Park from 5:30 – 9 p.m. This free event for Jaxsons by Jaxsons, showcases what makes our community unique including local makers, food artisans, fashion vendors, food trucks, craft beer, live music, live demos and more!
Join us for a lively discussion of the book by Pulitzer Prize winning author Jhumpa Lahiri that “deftly demonstrates how the familiar struggles between new and old, assimilation and cultural preservation, striving toward the future and longing for the past, play out in one particular set of foreign-born parents and their American-born children.” (from NEA Big Read) This program is free and open to the public. NEA Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest.
This program is for children birth to 5 years with an adult caregiver. The program includes stories, books, fingerplays, nursery rhymes, and songs that promote language development, vocabulary building, and comprehension.
This is an ongoing class that meets every Friday for all artists levels. The class will focus on pastels, materials and techniques.
Students will work from a live model and still life setups on a rotating basis using various types of soft pastels and supports. Check our website for the recommended supply list.

Entry fee of $150 per team required; registration ends Feb. 2nd. All proceeds will benefit Anthony J. Stinson Association for Change, a local charity working to support the Northside community by offering tutoring, donations, mentorship and civic guidance for Jacksonville’s youth. New and gently used donation items are also accepted (esp. board games like chess, checkers, puzzles, books, school supplies and snacks for students) and part of the friendly competition.

Omega Park is the host site for a six week baseball camp starting January 15. U.S. Baseball Academy site director Shannon Wofford will direct the program. Classes are available for players in grades 1-12 and are limited to seven players per coach. One-hour sessions are offered in advanced hitting, pitching, catching, fielding and baserunning.
