On Sept. 12, relive Beatlemania with a special concert marking the 60th anniversary of the Beatles’ 1964 Gator Bowl concert in Jacksonville! Hosted by Florida Humanities, one of the top Beatles tribute bands, Liverpool Live, will perform songs from the same 1964 set list as well as other timeless classics. You’ll also enjoy incredible storytelling from “Good Day Sunshine State” author Bob Kealing and noted oral historian Dr. Kitty Oliver, one of the few Black attendees at the 1964 concert.

The Beatles famously refused to perform unless the audience was integrated. Kealing and Oliver will dig deep into the social climate of Florida in the ‘60s and explore the historic impact of the 1964 concert, which came just a few months after the passage of the Civil Rights Act.

The event starts at 7 p.m. at the Ritz Theatre and Museum. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 day of the show. Doors open at 6 p.m. for book sales, book signings and museum tours. Photo ops with the band will be available. Groovy attire encouraged! Get our tix at floridahumanities.org/Beatles60 or Ticketmaster.
